Welcome to Moncompu Temple!
Moncompu, a naturally formed island, is a small village in kuttanad taluk in Alleppey district. It could be considered as the headquarters of the granary of Kerala.

The village is blessed by the Goddess MONKOMBILAMMA (Mankombill Bhagavathi).

Monkombu Garudan Thookam is quite famous. The temple traditionally belongs to the Kulangara Namboothiri Illam and is now under Travancore Devaswom.
 
Saisyam
The Moncompu Bhagavathy Temple is famous for a special pudding known as ‘Saisyam’. It is a liquid sweet made mainly of hand-pound punja rice mixed with equal quantity of fried green gram dhal.

Garudan Thookkam
The speciality of this temple is the Garudan Thookkam, which will take place on the 10th day. The temple is unique in each and every ritual. Two logs of wood from the aranai tree is placed on both sides of a platform on which the person who plays as garudan dances.
